Erimem finds her planned holiday interrupted by space battles, an old friend dealing with trauma, a priest with a Messiah complex and a horde of carnivorous aliens...
On top of all of that, she seems to have accidentally got herself a boyfriend, and he's got some questions that need answered... Poor Rachel Blake. I sent her a story outline for a little arc of three Erimem novels, saying I'd like her to do the first of the three. I included a big shopping list of things I wanted: I wanted space opera, I wanted the Drofen (from The Beast of Stalingrad to return), I wanted a story based on religion and religious obsession and I wanted this to be the story in which Erimem's relationship with Adam really steps forward and he finds out the truth about her. I asked a lot of Rachel and we worked together a lot to get this one to work as we wanted. The second and third books in this arc were delayed by the pandemic, so other books are being slipped in before we go back to the end of the arc.
