Prime Imperative
BBV audio drama
"When I was a girl, my father took me to watch great ships in the harbour. Their bellies looked like this after they had been at sea for many years."
The deep-space probe ship Clinton has been out of communication with Earth since its encounter with an interstellar comet.
Erimem and her friends arrive on a space station high in Earth orbit just before the almost derelict Clinton is due to dock.
Very soon it is the space station and its crew who need to be rescued, but that would certainly mean the end of all human life on Earth. In 2022, an audio version of the story was released by BBV. I rewrote the story from a novel which was written by Julianne Todd from my storyline. I wrote this adaptation so that it was told entirely from the POV of Erimem's best pal, Andy. There was always a lot of plot ansd character work in the story, even back in the outline I gave Jules. Bringing it down to one hour in length meant that I head to crop out plot strands and redistribute bits of exposition. I hope we managed to hang n to the Quatermass type of feel I wanted in this story.
