Another adventure featuring Erimem, former companion of the Fifth DOCTOR WHO. Notes: I love a noir thriller. You know the stuff I'm talking about... Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade or Vanessa Lake as the femme fatale... I needed a weary, cynical gumshoe, a gorgeous dame and some real nasty hoods... and the worst hoods in the world in 1940 were the Nazis... But how was I going to fir Erimem and her gang into that? Normally they rock up somewhere kind of on a whim or by accident... but what if they found out something that meant they HAD to go to 1940 Hollywood? Now what could that be? What about if Erimem turned out to be a movie star in 1940? Erimem, Nazis, Hollywood, noir... it still needed a bit of Doctor Who in there... space zombies, that was the thing... Take all those things and make a logical story out of them. I think it worked okay. I enjoyed this one so much that Erimem's Hollywood trips have continued, particularly in The Jewels of Cleopatra. And she's not finished with Hollywood yet... I have a noir thriller which I'm due to deliver in late 2026 or early 2027, which is also set in 1940 Hollywood, but is not related to these books. Writing these Erimem Hollywood books has made me feel more at home writing the noir though.
